1 KB = 1024 bytes; 1 MB = 1024 KB. A target is not guaranteed. JPG/WebP quality is a ceiling; PNG is lossless. Pixels stay unchanged unless you allow reduction.

Worked example

Try 100 KB (102400 bytes) for one JPG. If the output exceeds the limit, the target was not met: lower quality, allow pixel reduction or raise the target.
