PNG to SVG

PNG is lossless and supports alpha transparency—ideal for UI captures, icons, and crisp line art. Converting PNG to SVG here either preserves every pixel inside an SVG shell or traces visible edges after flattening transparency onto white.

PNG strengths and SVG trade-offs

Semi-transparent shadows become opaque when we rasterize to PNG for tracing, so soft glows may look slightly different in Trace mode. Keep Embed if anti-aliased edges must stay untouched.

Large PNGs from design exports compress better as WebP elsewhere, but SVG embedding stores a base64 PNG—expect bigger text files than the binary PNG on disk.

Line icons and two-tone illustrations are the sweet spot for Trace: fewer colors mean cleaner Bézier output and smaller path data.
